Our renovation is continuing and there are some changes at Airport Heights for the 2nd semester.
All primary classrooms have been moved to the newly renovated wing.
Please take note of new traffic patterns for student drop-off and pick-up.
- Buses will move to the front of the school on Alder Street.
- The Parent Drop-off/Pick-up lane is extended with a new entrance at 15th and Alder
- 16th Avenue will not be a good pick up area for students– the entire south wing is under construction.
Thanks for your patience during our renovation. Our first priority is safety. Please let us know about any problems or concerns that you have.
Airport Heights now has a dedicated bus loading zone and parent drop/pick up lane.
Please note and prepare for new traffic patterns at and around the school as student begin to arrive on Wednesday morning.
Rain, wind, and ice have made the roads pretty treacherous. School will be closed and all ASD after-school activities are canceled for the day.
Be safe out there. We hope to see everyone tomorrow.
Here’s a guide from Nurse Brown to help parents decide if and when to keep a sick child at home from school:
The weather is getting colder and some of our students are shivering at the thought of recess and walking home from school.
Please make sure that students are dressed for the weather. Here is one of our students in full winter gear:
The school year is off to a great start, and we want to keep it that way with a continuing focus on safety.
One of the more challenging points of the day occurs during student pick up time. Anyone that’s been near the school around 3:30 knows that our space is limited and we have a lot of cars in the area picking up students. We ask everyone to please pay attention to the traffic patterns and the restrictions on parking and standing in the area. For our part, we will have adults on duty every day directing student movements to provide for a safe end of the school day.
To our neighbors: Thank you for your patience during this time of day. We understand that the there can be delays in movement if you’re driving passed the school at this time and encourage people to take alternate routes if possible. The good news is that the student pick-up process is over relatively quickly and the traffic pattern returns to normal by 3:35 or 3:40.
Please make note of the traffic plan noted here. If everyone works together, we will keep Airport Heights safe for our kids. Thanks.
