A couple of weeks ago, several volunteers from True North Church came to Airport Heights to help out our teachers. They worked on all kinds of prep work. They made copies, organized materials and generally did a lot of work that allowed our teachers to spend more time working on instruction and the work they do with kids.
Thank you True North Church. Your help is much appreciated!
Here are some pictures from the event and some quotes from the volunteers and teachers:
Having volunteer prepare supplementary materials for my class made them available to my students much sooner than if I would have had to fit the preparation into my already busy day! Many thanks!
From Mrs. Justus
Having the support of the community is a powerful feeling. Teachers often have many tasks to do outside of teaching lessons. The extra support provided more time for me to focus on planning creative and effective lessons. The gift is time is priceless.

I always knew being a teacher was difficult, but after spending an evening helping the teachers of Airport Heights Elementary, I have a new respect and admiration for all that teachers are doing. I also learned how difficult it is to color in the lines. I hope the little we did was a blessing and encouragement to the teachers and students at Airport Heights Elementary. True North Church loves Airport Heights Elementary.
I enjoyed seeing the materials the kids were working with and hope the work we did eased the workload of the teachers.
Thank you for your work with kids. We were happy to serve you and help with some of your prep work.
It’s great to be helping out our teachers!

Great opportunity to both serve teachers and students by showing them people in the community care.
It was a blessing to help out. My hope is that we made the teachers’ lives a little easier and maybe enriched the lives of the kids.
We really appreciate Airport Heights opening up and allowing us to help the teachers who are making such a huge impact on our community.
It was a joy to help at Airport Heights. Anchorage needs teachers like ya’ll, Keep it up!
Many hands make light work. We were glad to help out!
